I spent all day Friday & Saturday scouting a beaver lodge in Buckingham County. I'm in the market for a homemade beaver fur blanket - I'll get it done. An unexpected side benefit was I now have my favorite spot for Geese. Flying in at night to zonk out and fly out in waves in the AM. Check out the video on the main site under "my iphone vids". Too bad I didn't have any #4 shells on me.....Tuck right up under those cat-tails and we're in business. Now I Just need to find someone with a boat or a good bird dog. (Anybody out there with a small boat and an urge to down some Geese, get at me via the contact page.)
We took a doe out of Patrick county Sunday night. Shot at 4:15pm w/ a 50cal CVA Optima at 60yds. She dropped in ~40yds. Had her quartered and in the cooler by 5:00pm while we still had light, that's how it's done! I sat in my honey-hole blind Sunday morning and that is the first time in 8 sits that I have not seen a single deer out of that blind. When moving the left-overs to a ravine on the back-side of the property (I went with the gutless method this time) I didn't account for the two 50cal size holes, made me look like I just got out of the battle of Bannockburn:
The Euro Mount from my November buck is officially done. Check it out!
Next update won't be until 1/6-ish. Merry Christmas To All!!
