We are now mere hours away from the start of 3 straights months in the woods. I have gone to bed no earlier than 3am for the past two evenings in giddy anticipication. My pup's schedule is all messed up and she can't really figure out what's up with me.
All signs point to a pre-rut extravaganza where silent entry and exit are more important than usual. It certainly doesn't suck that the acorns have been falling all week from both White & Red Oaks. Black Bear season co-incides with Archery so I may switch gears mid-season but who knows?! The best part is, I have Monday & Tuesday off work and no one else will be up there. This equates to 1,200 acres, 48 hours and only 1 of me..... so many stands, such little time. It's on!
I've had some extra pictures sent in from Guest Posters with detail on their deer gun of choice:
"Hands free walking through the woods. Everything at your disposal. Holds 6" at 100 yds with handloaded, 240 grain Speer Deepcurl HP's. Taken 95% of my WhiteTails for the last 2 decades."
- Smith & Wesson 629 Classic DX
- 44 Mag
- 1.5-4x Burris Scope
- Uncle Mikes Sidekick Bandolier Holster
- Buck folding knife. 2 blade with gut hook Gerber bone saw
And he brought it Hog Hunting......That's a Man's gun right there. Pictured below is the red light attachment, on top of the scope, on top of the pistol.... for the Hog Hunt @ Night this past winter.
